Altinkum is a small resort on the Aegean coast of Turkey. It can be easily accessed via Bodrum airport within an hour or Izmir airport within an hour and a half. Some locals will refer to the area by its older name Didim, as Altinkum is just a small part of the resort. The resort is perfect for all year living or a holiday destination. Currently the resort is in the process of having a 55 million dollar marina built. Altinkum marina is definitely putting it on the map and will be the second largest marina in Turkey. Other highlights of the resort include the Temple of Apollo, the Aqua park, and the close distance to neighbouring resorts.

Akbuk is a smaller quiet resort just round the coastline from Altinkum. It is well known for the fish farms supplying the local restaurants. It is situated around a bay with olive grooves. Akbuk became a township in 1991 and is developing according to plan; future developments include a golf course and a direct road leading to Bodrum airport. Most of the infrastructure is now complete including new roads, clean beaches and pedestrian walkways. No major construction work is allowed between the months of May – October, and no buildings are to be built any higher than 2 ½ storeys.

Yesiltepe is a very small resort that has only started to be developed in the last four years. It has basic amenities but a lot of people will go to Akbuk or Altinkum for bigger essentials. The resort is located a ten minute drive in from the coastline and has fantastic mountain views for all. The well known Bafa lake is a 15 minute walk away. Translated it means Green Hill. A majority of properties in Yesiltepe are villas.

Mavisehir is the area around the temple of Apollo to the village of Akkoy. It is a very traditional resort with quiet beaches and a daily Turkish market. A lot of the complexes in Mavisehir will run a daily shuttle bus service into the centre of Altinkum.

Yesilkent is a small coastal resort between Altinkum and Akbuk. A lot of the boat trips that leave from Altinkum will dock into Yesilkent. It is made up of principally large traditional Turkish villas set in quiet, mature residential streets that are closed to most traffic. Gentle and charming from most areas of Yesilkent you can walk within minutes to the beach, Yesilkent is ideal for those looking for peace and quiet, yet with the liveliness of the resort just a short bus or taxi ride away. Yesilkent has a fabulous beach area with access to small sanded coves along the shore towards the busy holiday resort of Altinkum. There is a very popular restaurant set back from the Jetty area of the beach that most locals use whether to dine or just relax with a long cool drink. This area is also an area widely chosen by British People who wish to live in Turkey.
